What Is Home‑Based Neurological Physiotherapy?

Neurological physiotherapy focuses on conditions that affect the brain, spinal cord, and nerves. When delivered at home, therapy becomes more practical, personalised, and directly connected to your daily routines.

Home‑based physiotherapy can take place:

  • In your home

  • In your backyard

  • At your local park

  • At the pool

  • At the beach

  • In community spaces

What to Expect

Comprehensive Initial Assessment (60–90 minutes)

This assessment forms the foundation of your personalised treatment plan. This includes:

  • Review of your medical history and current concerns

  • Assessment of strength, mobility, walking, and daily activities

  • Balance and coordination testing

  • Screening of sensation and awareness of limb position

  • Dizziness and vestibular assessment if needed

  • Review of your home environment to identify risks or equipment needs

  • Goal setting based on what matters most to you

Personalised Treatment Plan (follow up appointments 45-60 minutes)

We will design a program tailored to your goals and home environment. This may include:

  • Strength and mobility training

  • Balance retraining and fall‑prevention strategies

  • Walking and movement practice

  • Pain and fatigue management

  • Dizziness and vestibular rehabilitation

  • Coordination and movement control training

  • Education and self‑management strategies

  • Home exercise programs

  • Equipment recommendations and home modification advice

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Yes. We assess your home environment and recommend equipment or modifications. We also work closely with your Occupational Therapist to make sure you receive the most appropriate recommendations to help you reach your goals.

  • Anyone with a neurological condition, mobility difficulty, balance issues, dizziness, or functional decline. Currently, home based appointments are only for NDIS participants due to the travel fees incurred. We are happy to discuss the possibility of home visits privately - give us a call!

  • We provide mobile physiotherapy from Singleton to Nelson Bay, and from Maitland through to Belmont. If you are not sure if you fit in the above locations, send us an email or give us a call!
